On this page is an example of one possible use of customized graphics in the design of a home page. This is a particularly artistic one that might be appropriate for an elegant restaurant. A design focused on a clear presentation of information may be appropriate for other businesses.

Each design is unique and comes out of a mix involving the client's wishes, the character of the logo, the nature of the business, and a variety of other factors.

A good graphical design requires an eye for proportion and balance, an effective use of color, a sensitivity to the "movement" of the design, and an awareness of the prominent elements on a page. Usability is also very important on the web -- navigation elements should be readily accessible (not requiring scrolling, for instance) and easy to understand, but not draw the visitor's eye away from the important content.

Development of graphical elements for a web page is a normal part of the design process and is included in the price. However, such things as:

• creation of very complex original graphics (if requested by the client)
• requests for unusual third-party graphics requiring time-intensive searches
• unusually extensive repair required for poor-quality graphics provided by the client (including logos)
