The Inner Child Came Out

My inner child was hiding
Afraid of being known
For she had hurts and bruises
Through no fault of her own

But then one day I loved her out
And told her not to fear
Though others had abused her
I would hold her dear

She timidly sat and talked to me
For just a little while
We cried a lot and laughed a bit
I thought I saw her smile

And then she said she had to grow
But told me "Thanks a lot!"
She thanked me for the parenting
That she had never got

So we said good-bye and parted ways
But promised to meet again
My precious inner child at last
Had found her long lost friend!
